5 ways to surprise mum at home on Mother's Day

We understand these are new and challenging times, and we have felt the effects. While presented with unique challenges, we have an opportunity for innovation. As a family-friendly restaurant, we wanted to help you with some at-home gift ideas for mother’s day!

1) Surprise mum with breakfast in bed. 

It doesn't have to be too extravagant, as sometimes simple is best. Start with making mum a tea or coffee, whichever she prefers in the mornings and with the assistance of an adult, make a simple breakfast. Here are some ideas:

  • Caprese Avacado on Toast

  1. Lightly toast sourdough bread

  2. Smash avocado in a bowl with a squeeze of lime and cracked black pepper using a fork 

  3. Spread the avocado on the toast and place two halved cherry tomatoes and two sliced or torn basil leaves on top

  4. Add some bocconcini or mozzarella cheese and lightly drizzle with balsamic glaze

  • Eggs and bacon on toast

  • Something as simple as jam on toast

But most importantly, remember to clean the kitchen afterwards!

2) Pamper mum with a foot and or shoulder massage 

Treat mum at home to a foot or shoulder massage to make her feel special and relaxed. You can even create a day spa-like feel by putting candles or incense in the room.

3) Make mum a homemade card 

If you’re bored in the house or in the house board, you can break out the craft kit and make mum a personalised card for Sunday. You can search the web for inspiration; below are some ideas.

4) IOU cards

Give mum some homemade IOU cards she can redeem at a later date (don't be cheeky with expiry dates). Here are some ideas:

  • Family walk around the neighbourhood

  • Cooking dinner for mum

  • Making dessert for mum
